Creating announcements [COMING SOON]

Share important announcements with your employees, track who has seen the announcement, and view all past announcements.

Assembly’s announcement feature allows you to share important information with your employees with a specific announcement post. You can set permissions for who can post announcements, and you can share announcements with your whole company or with specific groups.

Who can use this feature?

  • Admins will always have permission to create and manage announcements

  • Admins can give permission to additional people within their Assembly to create and manage announcements

  • Anyone with whom the announcement is shared will be able to view it in the home feed

What to expect

  • When you post an announcement it will be visible to everyone you have selected to share it with

  • Announcements will appear in the home feed and also at the top of the feed in a special announcements section

  • Every announcement will have the functionality for employees to mark it as seen; and every announcement has insights to show you who has marked it as seen and who hasn't


Setting announcement permissions

Give permission to specific people or groups in your Assembly to create and manage announcements.

  1. Go to your admin page

  2. Select Announcements

  3. If you select 'everyone', everyone in your organization can create and manage announcements

  4. If you select 'admins', only admins can give this award

    1. By default, admins will always have permission to create and manage announcements

  5. If you select 'managers', managers will also have permission to create and manage announcements

  6. If you would like to designate specific people or groups to create announcements, select 'custom'

Selecting custom permissions

You can select any combination of:

  • Individual people

  • Departments

  • Work locations

  • Roles

Selecting or combining any of the above will give permission to every employee within each selected group to create announcements

  • For example, if you select 'HR' department and 'Barcelona, Spain' work location, this will include all employees in the HR department as well as all employees in the Barcelona, Spain work location.

    • This will NOT specify the HR department of the Barcelona, Spain work office.


Creating an announcement

Anyone with permission to create an announcement will see the option to give an award from the home page.

  1. Click 'Create announcement'

  2. Enter a title for your announcement

  3. Enter a message your your announcement

  4. Select an image for your announcement or upload your own custom image

  5. Choose whether you want to allow employees to reply and/or react to the post

    1. If either are disabled, there will be no option to reply to the post or react to it, respectively

  6. Choose who you want to share the announcement with

    1. By default, this is set to 'Everyone'

    2. Clicking 'Everyone' will display the option to select other groups to share the announcement with (at the moment you can choose to share with 'Managers' or specific departments)

  7. Once your announcement details are finalized, click 'Post'

    1. This will post the announcement immediately

Announcements will remain 'active' in the announcement section in the home feed until you manually end the announcement. Anyone with permission to create an announcement can end the announcement.


Ending an announcement

All admins, as well as the person who created the announcement, has permission to end an announcement. To end the announcement:

  1. From the announcement card in the announcement section (or from the post directly in the feed), click the 3-dotted menu

  2. Click 'End announcement'

  3. This will remove the announcement from the announcement section, but the announcement post will still be available to view in the feed

COMING SOON: we are actively working on the ability to schedule announcements, which includes scheduling the post, as well as automatically ending the announcement. Stay tuned!

Announcement notifications

  • Once an announcement is posted, anyone with whom the announcement is shared will receive an email, a mobile notification (if they have the mobile app), and a notification card within the notification page in Assembly.

Viewing announcements

  • If at least 1 active announcement has been shared with you, it will display in the 'Announcements' section at the top of the home feed

  • If there are no active announcements, this section will not display

Marking an announcement as seen

  • All announcement posts will have a 'Mark as seen' button

  • The announcement email will also have a 'Mark as seen' button

  • Once a person marks the announcement as seen once, they will not be able to mark it as seen again

  • Marking an announcement as seen will not remove it from the announcement section above

    • As mentioned above, the announcement will only get removed from that section when the announcement ends

Announcement insights

Admins and anyone with permission to create and manage announcements will have access to view announcement insights. To view an announcement's insights:

  1. From the announcement card in the announcement section (or from the post directly in the feed), click the 3-dotted menu

  2. Click 'View insights'

  3. This will show you everyone has marked the announcement as seen, and who has not yet marked it as seen

Once an announcement ends, it can no longer be marked as seen, however you will always be able to see the insights for that announcement after the announcement has ended.

Editing/deleting an announcement

Only the person who created the announcement can edit the announcement. To edit the announcement:

  1. Go to the announcement post you created

  2. Click the 3-dotted menu on the post

  3. Click 'Edit'

  4. You can edit any of the announcement details

  5. Click 'Save'

All admins, as well as the person who created the announcement, can delete the announcement. To delete the announcement:

  1. Go to the announcement post you created

  2. Click the 3-dotted menu on the post

  3. Click 'Delete'

  4. Once deleted, it will disappear from the announcement section and from the home feed; it will no longer be accessible by anyone

    1. This action cannot be reversed
