You can customize your recognition settings for you organization in a single place in your Admin dashboard. We’ll walk you through all of the settings below:
Only admins can configure recognition settings
These settings will apply to your entire organization, with the exceptions you make for managers and admins, depending on the setting
If you make any changes to these settings, the changes will reflect immediately in your platform
If your company uses core values, you can configure them in Assembly. These core values can be used when giving recognition or awards. If enabled, you can also choose whether to make them required when giving recognition.
To enable and configure your core values:
Go to https://admin-app.joinassembly.com/recognition/settings
In the ‘Core values’ section, enable the ‘Can assign company core values to recognition post’
Input your core values, separated by a comma
To set core values as required, enable the ‘Set core values as required’ toggle
This means that when anyone gives recognition, they will be required to select a core value before they can post
If disabled, employees will have the option to select a core value, but it will not be required
NOTE: this does not apply to awards, award core value requirements are configured at each individual award level
When enabled, this setting will require all recognition messages to have a minimum character count
This often encourages employees to write meaningful recognition instead of a short, non-specific message
We recommend at least 100 character minimum
Set the rating for the GIFs that people can select to add to their posts
This setting applies to recognition, awards, replies, spaces, announcements.. anywhere GIFs can be added
By default, employees can add additional points, ‘Boosts’, in replies for all posts
This is a great way of showing additional appreciation and recognition to teammates
However, if you want to limit point exchanges to peer-to-peer recognition, you can disable boosting in all replies
This will hide the option to boost in all replies across the platform
By default, points are visible in all posts and replies (whenever a boost is given)
You can hide points by enabling this toggle
This will hide the points from everyone except the giver, the receiver(s), and all admins; it will remain visible at all times for these people
This applies to recognition, awards, replies with boosts, and all birthday/anniversary/welcome bot posts
Assembly utilizes ‘groups’ across many areas of the platform, including recognition
This allows employees to give recognition to the entire organization, entire departments and work locations, as well as any custom groups you create
This setting allows you to control who has permission to give recognition and to groups
Regardless of who has permission to give recognition to groups, every employee will have the option to select multiple individual people as recipients in a single recognition post
By default, all recognition posts are public and visible to the entire organization
You can configure private recognition permissions if you would like to give employees the option to post recognition privately
By default, admins will always have permission to give recognition privately when enabled
You can extend tis permission to Managers or Everyone in your organization
Whoever has permission to give recognition privately will see the option at the bottom of the give recognition module to change the visibility from ‘Everyone’ to ‘Private’
This also applies to awards visibility
If recognition is given privately, it will be hidden from everyone except the giver, recipient(s), and all admins
NOTE: if you are connected to Slack or Microsoft Teams, recognition and awards that are given privately will be received as a DM in the respective platform, as opposed to appearing in the public channel
In order to prevent your employees from giving all of their points away to a single person in a single post or boosted reply, you can configure a maximum giving % per recipient in a single post/reply
When enabled, employees will not be able to give more than the designated % to a single user in a single post
For example, if the maximum % is set to 20%, my giving allowance is 100 points per month
If I give recognition or a boost in a reply to a single person, I cannot give more than 20 points to this person
If I give recognition or a boost in a reply to 2 or more people, I can only give 20 points to each person
By default, admins are always excused from this limit; they can always give more than the maximum giving %
You can extend this to Managers by selecting ‘Managers’; this means all Managers can give more than the maximum giving % to a single person
NOTE: employees can still give recognition to each other even if they have no more points available to give to that person
In order to prevent your employees from swapping points by giving all of their points back and forth between each other in recognition posts or boosted replies, you can configure a maximum giving % of their giving allowance an employee can give to another single person. Here’s a demo video for how it works.
When enabled, employees will not be able to give more than the designated % of their giving allowance to a single person within a refresh period (each month, quarter, year)
For example, if the maximum % is set to 20%, my giving allowance is 100 points per month
If I give recognition or a boost in a reply to a single person, I cannot give more than 20 points to this person TOTAL
If I give all 20 points to a single person in a single post or boost, then I will no longer be able to give that person any more points this month; the next month this limit will refresh
NOTE: employees can still give recognition to each other even if they have no more points available to give to that person
By default, admins are always excused from this limit; they can always give more than the maximum giving %
You can extend this to Managers by selecting ‘Managers’; this means all Managers can give more than the maximum giving % to a single person
